The two countries reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral relations
During the first Foreign Office Consultations between the two countries on Monday, India and Papua and New Guinea discussed the joint hosting of the 3rd Summit of the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC), which would take place in Port Moresby.
According to the MEA, both sides reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral relations, including development partnership, and political, economic and cultural ties. The two sides exchanged views on regional and global issues, and cooperation in multilateral fora.
The consultations took place in Port Moresby..Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea Elias Wohengu led the PNG side while Secretary (East) MEA Saurabh Kumar headed the Indian delegation.
While in Port Moresby, Secretary (East) paid floral tributes at the bust of Mahatma Gandhi and unveiled the plaque at the Centre for Excellence in Information Technology (CEIT), established at the University of Papua New Guinea by the Government of India.
The Centre offers specialised training programmes in Information Communication and Technology (ICT) to the local population, the MEA said.
According to the MEA, it was decided that the next round of the FoC would take place in Delhi at mutually convenient dates.
