Participants will discuss the efficacy of the current international counter-terrorism financing framework
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver the inaugural address at the third 'No Money for Terror' (NMFT) Ministerial Conference on Counter-Terrorism Financing in New Delhi on Friday (November 18), the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said on Thursday.
The two-day conference will provide a unique forum for participating nations and organizations to discuss the efficacy of the present international counter-terrorism financing framework and the actions needed to confront new threats.
The conference will build on gains and learnings of previous two conferences (held in Paris in April 2018 and in Melbourne in November 2019) and will work towards enhancing global cooperation to deny finances to terrorists and access to permissive jurisdictions to operate.
Over 450 participants from all over the world, including ministers, heads of multilateral organizations, and delegation heads for the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), are going to participate in this ministerial conference, the PMO said.
During the conference, discussions will take place in four sessions with the topics of "Global Trends in Terrorism and Terrorist Financing," "Use of Formal and Informal Channels of Funds for Terrorism," "Emerging Technologies and Terrorist Financing," and "International Co-operation to Address Challenges in Combating Terrorist Financing."
The Union Home Ministry stated last week that the convening of this conference demonstrates the significance that the Modi government attaches to the problem of global terrorism, as well as its zero-tolerance approach to this threat and having dialogues about it in the international community.
