India and Zimbabwe had their second Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) in New Delhi on Thursday, where they discussed a variety of international and regional problems of shared concern.
During the consultations, both sides conducted thorough reviews of their bilateral relations and indicated a willingness to move such relations forward for the benefit of both nations. To realize the partnership's full potential, both sides highlighted the significance of bilateral political discussions.
Additionally, the delegates spoke about ways to improve cooperation in a range of fields, including commerce and investment, development partnerships, defense, consular matters, agriculture, health, and railroads, among others.
In order to maintain the partnership's vitality and mutual benefit, the two sides also decided to keep up high-level political discussions and routine meetings of the joint institutional institutions.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the discussions took place in a friendly and cordial environment, and both parties decided to convene the following round of consultations in Harare on mutually agreeable dates.
The Zimbabwean side was led by R.M. Faranisi, Chief Director of Economic Cooperation, International Trade, and Diaspora in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Zimbabwe, while the Indian side was led by Puneet R. Kundal, Joint Secretary (East & Southern Africa).
There has been a long history of friendly and strong ties between India and Zimbabwe. Both nations closely collaborate in the UN, NAM, and other multilateral fora like the WTO and G-15, and hold similar views on the majority of international problems.
