The 4-stage Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) rocket also carried three satellites from Singapore
Hailing ISRO’s PSLV C53 mission for achieving the milestone of launching two payloads of Indian start-ups in space, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed confidence that many more Indian companies will reach space in the near future.
The PSLV-C53/DS-EO mission of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) was successfully launched from Sriharikota on Thursday.
Two payloads from Indian space start-ups, Digantara and Dhruva Space, were also carried by the PSLV Orbital Experimental Module (POEM), and it was launched by IN-SPACe and New Space India Limited (NSIL).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated IN-SPACe and ISRO. PM Modi tweeted, "The PSLV C53 mission has achieved a new milestone by launching two payloads of Indian Start-ups in Space. Congratulations @INSPACeIND and @isro for enabling this venture. Confident that many more Indian companies will reach Space in near future."
After the mission's accomplishment, ISRO Chairman S. Somanath also praised the crew and expressed the organization's desire to reach other milestones for NSIL's clients. "
The 4-stage Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) rocket, which was launched off from the Satish Dhawan Space Center at Sriharikota's second launch pad, carried a payload consisting of three satellites from Singapore, but two Indian companies, Dhruva Space and Digantara, also sent payloads into low-Earth orbit (LEO).
Along with the NeuSAR satellite and the Scoob-1 satellite from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore, the DS-EO satellite was the main payload that was launched on this mission.
The PSLV-C53 mission was the second solely private mission undertaken by New Space India Limited (NSIL), a state-owned organization under the Department of Space. Amazonia-1, a mission for Brazil on the PSLV that carried 18 co-passenger satellites, launched on February 28, 2021.
