Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Quad had taken an important place on the world stage

Quad is working on "a constructive agenda for the Indo-Pacific region," and this will help to cement the grouping's image as a "Force for Good", Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday.

Delivering his opening remarks at the Quad Leaders’ Meeting in Tokyo, Japan, PM Modi referred to Quad's growing influence and credibility. It had taken on an "important place on the world stage," PM Modi said, adding that it had become "broader and the format has become effective."

US President Joe Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida also attended the 2nd in-person Quad Leaders' Meeting.

Delivering his opening remarks in Hindi, Prime Minister Modi stated that the leaders' mutual collaboration at the Quad level is promoting "a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region," which is the common goal of all of them.

He added that despite the terrible conditions of Covid-19, Quad had enhanced collaboration in many areas such as vaccine distribution, climate action, supply chain resilience, disaster response, and economic cooperation, while stressing how Quad has grown more active throughout the pandemic. This was guaranteeing Indo-Pacific peace, prosperity, and stability, he pointed out.

PM Modi also congratulated newly elected Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on his victory in the recent general elections. He went on to say that his arrival at the summit barely 24 hours after taking the oath of office demonstrated the depth of Quad's friendship and his dedication to it.
