The second in-person Quad Leaders Summit will be held in Tokyo on May 24

President Joe Biden will fly to Japan for the 2nd in-person Quad Leaders' Summit, where he will conduct a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said on Wednesday.

The meet is scheduled to be held in
Tokyo, Japan on May 24. There have been three Quad Leaders' Summits thus far, two of which were virtual.

During the daily White House news conference, Sullivan told reporters, "We believe that this summit will demonstrate both in substance and in vision that democracies can deliver and that these four nations working together will defend and uphold the principles of a free and open Indo-Pacific."

The Quad grouping of India, US, Japan, and Australia is aimed at strengthening a free and open international order based on the rule of law.

The four countries have been promoting practical cooperation in various fields, including vaccines, infrastructure, climate change, and critical and emerging technologies, to realize a "Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)."

The first Quad Leaders’ Summit was held via video conference in March last year. This was followed by the first in-person meeting in September, 2021.

The third Leaders' Summit was held via video conference in March this year.
