Over 482 million people have received both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine

India has crossed a major milestone in its Covid-19 vaccination campaign with 50% of the country's eligible population now fully vaccinated.

According to the dashboard on the CoWIN portal, 1,28,58,89,756 vaccine doses had been administered till about 4 pm on Monday.

The total number of persons who have received both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine stood at 48,23,57,346 (over 482 million).

This is over 50% of the approximately 950 million of India's adult population that is more than 18 years old and eligible for Covid-19 vaccination.

According to the dashboard, 80,35,32,410 (over 803 million) people have received their first dose of fhe Covid-19 vaccine.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the landmark achievement on Twitter.

"India’s vaccination drive crosses another important milestone. Important to keep this momentum to strengthen the fight against COVID-19.

And yes, keep following all other COVID-19 related protocols including masking up and social distancing," PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister was responding to a tweet by Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Mansukh Mandaviya announcing the vaccination landmark.

According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the last 24 hours saw the administration of 24,55,911 vaccine doses, as per provisional reports till 7 am on Monday.

On January 16 this year, India had launched what has been described as the world's largest Covid-19 vaccination campaign.

India’s recovery rate stands at 98.35%.

The recovery of 8,834 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,40,69,608.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.35%.

States and Union Territories (UTs) continued the trend of less than 50,000 Daily New Cases that is being reported for 162 consecutive days now.

According to the latest data, 8,306 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

India’s Active Caseload stands at 98,416.Active Cases constitute 0.28% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020, the health ministry said.

The last 24 hours saw a total of 8,86,263 tests being conducted, taking the total number to over 64.82 crore (64,82,59,067) cumulative tests.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 0.78% has remained less than 1% for the last 22 days now.

The Daily Positivity Rate is reported to be 0.94%. The Daily Positivity Rae has remained below 2% for last 63 days and below 3% for 98 consecutive days now.
