Over 10 million Covid-19 vaccine doses were given in a single day for the third time in the last 11 days

India achieved the milestone of 700 million (70 crore) doses of Covid-19 vaccine coverage on Tuesday, with the last 100 million (10 crore) doses being administered in just 13 days.

“India has administered 70 crore vaccine doses till now, including 10 crore doses administered in just 13 days," said Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Twitter.

Mandaviya also shared a graphic providing details of the progress of India' vaccination programme, which was launched on January 16 this year.

According to the graphic, it took 85 days to inoculate the first 10 crore people; this dropped sharply to 45 days for the next 10 crore beneficiaries. The number reached 30 crore in 29 more days.

India took 24 days to go from 30 crore to 40 crore doses, 20 days for 40 to 50 crores and 19 days for 50 to 60 crores.

The number increased from 60 to 70 crore vaccine doses at the fastest pace, in only 13 days.

Earlier in the day, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had said that 1,13,53,571 Covid-19 vaccine doses had been administered in the last 24 hours.

This feat of administering more than 10 million (1 crore) Covid-19 vaccine doses in a single day has been achieved thrice in the last 11 days.

The recovery of42,942 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients, since the beginning of the pandemic, to 3,22,24,937.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 97.48%.

The ministry noted that sustained and collaborative efforts by the Centre and the States/Union Territories (UTs) continue the trend of less than 50,000 Daily New Cases that is being reported for 72 consecutive days now.

31,222 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

India’s Active Caseload is currently 3,92,864. Active cases now constitute 1.19% of the country's total Positive Cases.

The last 24 hours saw a total of 15,26,056.tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 53.31 crore (53,31,89,348) cumulative tests.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 2.56% has remained less than 3% for the last 74 days now.

According to the latest data, the Daily Positivity rate has dipped to 2.05%. The Daily Positivity rate has remained below 3% for the last 8 days and below 5% for 92 consecutive days now.
