India’s Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Tuesday held a conversation with Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon in a virtual mode and discussed possibilities of energy, environment, agriculture, education and knowledge partnerships.

Terming the conversation with Governor Gordon as ‘enriching’, Ambassador Sandhu tweeted he discussed the possibilities of partnerships between India and Wyoming.

“Enriching conversation this afternoon with #Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon @GovernorGordon. Discussed the possibilities of energy, environment, agriculture, education and knowledge partnerships,” the Indian ambassador said in the tweet.

Wyoming also known as the ‘Equality State' is the least populated state of the US with the total number of inhabitants being about 600,000.

As of 2020, Wyoming's gross state product was $36.24 billion, ranking 48th largest economy for the US.

The mineral extraction industry and travel and tourism sector are the main drivers of the Wyoming economy.

Mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction play an important role in their GDP, contributing about USD 7.5 million.

Wyoming is rich in minerals such as sodium carbonate and fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas and oil. Wyoming also exports agricultural commodities such as barley, hay, livestock, sugar beets, wheat, and wool.

According to the US Department of Commerce, Wyoming shipped USD 1.17 billion worth of goods around the globe in 2020.

Its bilateral trade with India in 2020 was USD 35 million, which registered a drop of 30 per cent from USD 50 million in 2019.
